Literature Text

Still the dead lay moaning
              while human voices wake us
              we drown.
A shadowless shadow that
              finds a corpse
              and with it goes.
We found the Shatterer of Worlds
The demon that cannot be himself.
Sigh. There's been things going on, memories being brought back, and just... issues that just are very persistent. This poem is about a few people that I know, or have known. I had a single person in mind when initially writing it, though.

I was inspired by a few poems that we were reading in Modernism, and me being inspired by poems is a rare thing. I'm not much of a poetry person.

Seeing as I don't really write poetry, if you're going to comment, comment on content, not structure. And please, no critique.

Short, to the point and very personal; this is a perfect example of one of my favorite quotes:

"Poetry is no one's business but the poet and everyone else can fuck off."

I forget who its by and it looks a little mean, but what I think it says is that as long as you get it, and you wrote it to express feelings that were going around in your head, that's all that matters.

Also, I really like it. The lines are very short and forceful; to the point, as I said. I think this would have to be my favorite line: "The demon that cannot be himself." There's something heartbreaking about the idea of something so powerful and characteristically chaotic (a demon) not feeling that it's okay to be himself, or not being allowed to.

...Sorry this comment is so goddamn long. ;_; I love this piece and it's very good. I hope you do write another poem sometime; I'm looking forward to reading more.
